Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Senior Portrait? How do I take one?

Graduating seniors at Cal take their senior portraits for inclusion in the B&G Yearbook. Only seniors who take their portraits will be included in the yearbook. Sitting fees start at $5. Packages for purchasing portraits are sold by our photography company, Lauren Studios.

If you are graduating in December 2018, May 2019, or Summer 2019, sign-up to take your senior portraits today! All students who have senior standing should have received an email from Lauren Studios that includes a personal client-ID. Use this client-ID to make an appointment online!

I took my senior portraits, now what?

You will receive an email from Lauren Studios in 2-3 weeks once your proofs are available to view online. There, you can select your “yearbook photo”. Physical proofs will also be mailed to you in 3-4 weeks. If you are interested in purchasing photo packages, you may do so through Lauren Studios.

Meanwhile, you can purchase the 2019 B&G Yearbook!

About B&G

The Yearbook

The Blue & Gold Yearbook is the official yearbook for the University of California, Berkeley. Published since 1875, the Blue & Gold provides readers coverage of events, issues and trends within the Berkeley community. As a historical record, the yearbook also includes campus facts, figures and people, including a section for graduating seniors’ portraits and majors.

Our Mission

Our mission is to truthfully encapsulate the current, unique Berkeley identity — its culture, events, and lifestyle — as students, for the students.

The Organization

The Blue & Gold Yearbook staff is comprised of over fifty individuals who design, produce, market, and distribute the book. Financially self-sufficient, the organization earns its revenue without aid of grants or outside funding. The Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC student government) formally sponsors the organization and provides it with office space.

Join our staff

We recruit at the start of each semester for our design, photography, copy, and marketing teams. The application for Fall 2018 Recruitment has closed, so keep an eye out for our next round in the spring!
